Michelle Williams Responds to Mark Wahlberg's $1.5 Million Time's Up Donation

Michelle Williams is reacting to Mark Wahlberg‘s major donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund.

Earlier today (January 13), the 46-year-old actor donated $1.5 million to the organization under his 37-year-old co-star’s name after after it was revealed he made that much more than her on the reshoots for All the Money in the World.

Michelle has now released a statement reacting to the donation.

“Today isn’t about me,” Michelle says in her statement. “My fellow actresses stood by me and stood up for me, my activist friends taught me to use my voice, and the most powerful men in charge, they listened and they acted. If we truly envision an equal world, it takes equal effort and sacrifice. Today is one of the most indelible days of my life because of Mark Wahlberg, WME and a community of women and men who share in this accomplishment. Anthony Rapp, for all the shoulders you stood on, now we stand on yours.”

Celebs Praise Mark Wahlberg for Donating Re-shoot Fee to Time's Up

Celebrities are speaking out to praise Mark Wahlberg for his $1.5 million donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund.

This is the amount that Mark was paid to do re-shoots on the movie All the Money in the World, while his co-star Michelle Williams (who is billed as the film’s lead star) received just $1,000 for the same amount of work.

After the story went wide, Mark decided to donate his re-shoot fee to the fund to help in the fight for gender equality.

Stars like Michelle‘s BFF Busy Philipps, Eva Longoria, Jessica Chastain, and more have spoken out about Mark‘s donation. Amber Tamblyn has even pointed out how Mark is only the second male celebrity to make a donation to the Time’s Up fund without donating alongside a woman.

Mark Wahlberg Donates $1.5 Million to Time's Up in Michelle Williams' Name

Mark Wahlberg has announced that he is donating $1.5 million to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund after it was revealed he made that much more than Michelle Williams on the reshoots for All the Money in the World.

The 46-year-old actor refused to work for free when the movie was re-shot in November to replace Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer, though Michelle agreed to work for the base rate of $80 a day, totaling out to just $1,000.

“Over the last few days my reshoot fee for All The Money in the World has become an important topic of conversation. I 100% support the fight for fair pay and I’m donating the $1.5 million to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in Michelle Williams’ name,” Mark said in a statement.

Mark‘s agents at WME, the same agency that represent Michelle, announced that they will donate $500,000 to the fund, in addition to the $1 million already donated by the agency.

“The current conversation is a reminder that those of us in a position of influence have a responsibility to challenge inequities, including the gender wage gap. In recognition of the pay discrepancy on All The Money In The World reshoots, WME is donating an additional $500,000 to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund in Michelle Williams’ name, following our $1 million pledge to the organization earlier this month,” WME announced in a statement. “It’s crucial that this conversation continues within our community and we are committed to being part of the solution.”
